About College
His Holiness Late Shri Ganayogi Pandit Panchaxari Gavai is known in the state of Karnatak and as well as in the whole of India through his contributions in the fields of music, art, religion and philosophy. He was blessed by His Holiness Late Sri. Guru Kumar Maha Shivayogi of Hanagal. His contribution for the enrichment of the Indian culture is phenomenal. Though he was blind, he had strong inner eye with which he developed vision that achieved miraculous performance during his life time and afterwards. His contritution in the field of music is worth mentioning his achievement in Karnatak and Hindustani music is unique. The flavour of his music has spread far and wide in the country.
His Holiness Late Shri. Ganayogi Pandit Panchaxari Gavai went around the villages and collected the donations to run a school of music for blind students to give them a new vision through which they could lead a respectable life. Starting of such a project was first of its kind and stands tall as an achievement in the cultural history of mankind. After the demise of Panchaxari Gavai his able disciple with command on three languages. His Holiness Dr. Shri Pandit Puttaraj Gavai become the Pontiff of Sri. Veereshwar Punyashram. He was a guiding force for various institutions. At Nintyone he was active and concerned about the welfare of the blind and the disabled in the community apart from establishing institutions for common public especially the down trodden and poor. He had never been deterred by blindness. He translated Basava Purana in Hindi and Translated Shri Tontada Siddalinga vijay Puran in Sanskrit. He excelled in poetic abilities by composing Shri Kumar Vilas Kavyam and Shri. Matkumar Geet. In recognition to his contribution the Government of Karnatak Presented him State award “ Sangeet Vidwan”.
Emblem
Emblem of our Institution focuses on the importance of education and knowledge. It consists of the picture of Dr. Pandit Puttaraj Gavaiji. There are three words written in the emblem and they are Dharma- which means religion, Jnana – means knowledge, Seve – means service. These three words show that the Institution gives more importance to our religion which indicates our culture; selfless service is the motto of the institution. A lamp is kept on a book. The book is the light in the life of the blind students. The musical instrument ‘Veena’ symbolizes that music is the soul of the institution.
